With candy-colored houses, horse-drawn wagons, and a fudge shop on every corner, Mackinac Island emanates fairytale romance. For weddings, the Mission Point Resort—the island’s only full-service, causal resort—has several picturesque spots to stage the special day.
The signature Wedding Gazebo is an elegant structure on a sprawling lawn overlooking Lake Huron; the Promenade Deck also offers views of the lake and the straights. There are indoor options as well, including the richly decorated, chandelier-lit Chianti restaurant, which dishes out Italian specialties from chef Keith Schockling. (We checked out the restaurant earlier this summer and had quite the time sipping French martinis while a pianist played classic tunes in the background.)
Unique packages include the “Intimate Wedding,” which was created for parties with 30 or fewer guests and includes a ceremony, reception, and dinner service. And, how’s this for unique?
The Island’s rich history is peppered with rumored ghost sightings, many of which took place at Mission Point Resort. “Haunts of Mackinac” ghost tours take place throughout the week and end at the venue, and are a spookily memorable entertainment option for out-of-town guests.
